Majority of Budget Kept For Witcher 4!

Story Highlight
  • CDPR has multiple projects in the pipeline, but The Witcher 4 is next to enter production.
  • The developer confirms it has around $326 million to spare for future games at the moment.
  • The studio seems to be in a good position to fund future projects with this amount.

While CDPR faced a difficult time after the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it has returned to financial stability again. Following this IP’s status as a nearly $1 billion series, CDPR has recorded impressive profits this year.

Having sold millions of Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty copies, the company has gathered around $326 million to spare in 2024.

Why it matters: CDPR has more than two projects in the works. With all projects in different stages of development, this budget will ensure development proceeds smoothly.

CDPR has revealed its earnings from 2023 in a recent report. The company noted a 40% increment in net profit to $120 million, and the total assets of the company reached an incredible $326 million in total.

The company is motivated after seeing its efforts yielding fruit. It states that this revenue will ensure that future releases will receive investment consistently as development ramps up.

At the year-end, our reserves had a total value of over $326 million.

CDPR stated that this amount is divided between bank deposits, treasury bonds, and cash reserves.

Much of CDPR’s financial success came as a direct result of Cyberpunk 2077’s success in 2023.

At the same time, The Witcher 3 continued selling well. All of these projects came together to produce magnificent results. Therefore, CDPR’s statement has interesting implications for The Witcher 4.

Since this project is the biggest focus, it might receive a much higher budget than past games. The company already has an ambitious plan laid out, so we would not be shocked if most of the $326 million went toward The Witcher 4 and its production.

Furthermore, we expect the game’s budget to exceed that of Cyberpunk 2077 by the end of development.

Once marketing costs are added up, this may end up being CDPR’s most expensive project to date. However, the team hopes that it will be worth it, promising an experience that won’t be retreading The Witcher 3.
