We can now officially talk about the MSI Claw, which joins the market trend of portable “Consoles” with PC hardware. MSI Claw boasts of being the first to arrive with Intel hardware and not AMD, which is more striking and manages to add more competition to this market currently dominated by AMD.
Beyond the processor used, in the rest of the specifications, it is very similar to the rest of the consoles that we have seen on the market, so, for now, the innovation is linked to using an Intel Core Ultra processor (Meteor Lake).
MSI Claw (A1M) Console Specifications
We start with the most relevant thing, and that is that the MSI Claw console will be capable of using an Intel Core 7 Ultra 155H processor. This means having access to a 16-core processor and 22 processing threads.
This configuration is divided into 6x high-performance P-Core cores, along with 8x efficient E-Core cores, and 2x very efficient LP-E Core cores. The high-performance cores are capable of reaching a Base frequency of 3.80 GHz and a Turbo frequency of 4.80 GHz. These cores are accompanied by 23 MB of L3 cache memory and, most importantly, powerful integrated graphics.
The MSI Claw integrates an Intel Arc Xe-LPG iGPU with 8 Xe-Cores. That is, an iGPU based on the same Alchemist architecture seen in Intel Arc desktop graphics.
Without any surprises in between, this processor is linked to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, although at a speed of 6,400 MHz. This implies the same speed as the ASUS ROG Ally, but slower than the 7,500 MHz of the Lenovo Legion Go. At the storage level, we know that you can choose an NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD storage with 512 GB or 1 TB capacity.
All of this is linked to giving life to a 7-inch IPS panel with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels at 120 Hz with VRR and a brightness of 500 nits. Practically the same as the ASUS Rog Ally except for knowing the response time.
MSI Claw hardware is powered by a 53 Wh battery, which is more than what its competition offers. The ASUS ROG Ally moves at 40 Wh, while the Lenovo Legion GO stays at 49.2 Wh. Despite this, it weighs 675 grams (vs. 608 grams for ASUS or 854 grams for Lenovo Legion Go). MSI says this will guarantee 2 hours of autonomy at maximum performance load.
Continuing with the information, the MSI Claw offers Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity (Intel Killer BE1750). We continue with access to a 1x Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 port, microSD card reader, headphone jack, and fingerprint reader on the power button.
The console is charged through the USB-C port itself, the caul supports fast charging at 65W. All of this, of course, is managed by the Windows 11 operating system.
At the cooling level, we only know that it uses MSI’s Cooler Boost Hyperflow technology. We don’t know what it means. But there is talk of a design linked to good airflow.
At the software level, we have MSI Center M, which is an interface designed to make it easier to move through the console settings. MSI AI Engine helps the console automatically modify its settings to adapt to needs, the possibility of generating macros, and RGB LED lighting on the joysticks.
MSI Claw Availability And Price
Regarding the price, we know that the MSI Claw console will arrive during the first or second quarter at a starting price of $699 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage with an Intel Core Ultra 5 CPU with a worse GPU. With the Core Ultra 7 and 1 TB of storage, it will cost $799.
