FSR 3 Mod Doubles Performance In Witcher 3 & Starfield

From 60 To 120FPS Through FSR 3!

Using DLSS 3 and Frame Generation, games can run at incredibly smooth frame rates without compromising visual fidelity. However, since this feature is locked to the GeForce RTX 40 series, AMD’s FSR 3 is quite compelling for the masses.

While FSR 3 is officially supported in a few games, including Forspoken, modders have figured out how to introduce AMD’s take on Frame Generation in all games that offer the option of DLSS 3.

The mod has now been implemented in The Witcher 3 and Starfield, making these games buttery smooth.

Why it matters: Modern AAA games are becoming so graphically intensive that hardware is struggling to keep up.

In a video shared by MxBenchmarkPC, the mod brings an excellent performance boost to The Witcher 3.

On a system powered by an Intel Core i7-10700F and RTX 3080 at 1440p resolution, the game runs at 40FPS natively. However, Frame Generation boosts the performance to 92FPS, more than doubling the frame rate.

For an intensive game like The Witcher 3’s next-gen version running with ray tracing, this performance is unheard of without Frame Generation.

The same is true for Starfield, where a Ryzen 5 7600 and an RTX 3070 are barely enough to get 60FPS at high graphics and 1080p resolution. 10-15 more FPS can be obtained when DLSS 2 is in Quality mode.

Combining AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation on top of this nets 60 additional frames per second. Overall, Starfield goes from barely hitting 60FPS to comfortably running at above 120FPS. A similar DLSS 3 mod was also created for Starfield.

AMD FSR 3 officially supports the latest games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. However, for everything else, such mods are perfect for users looking to gain additional performance without a graphics card upgrade.
