Offline Story Mode Coming After Launch!

Story Highlights
  • An active connection will be required at launch to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
  • Following demand, an offline mode will be added after the full launch.
  • Rocksteady hopes to launch the update as early as possible.

Rocksteady has announced that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will remove its online-only requirement after launch, adding an offline story mode. It also debuted a brand-new trailer at the Game Awards 2023.

The trailer presented a more detailed look at the characters and gameplay, showing massive improvements over previous showings.

Why it matters: The announcement of an active internet connection requirement led to serious backlash from a community accustomed to the studio’s single-player games.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League became the topic of discussion after its first trailer was dropped and for all the wrong reasons.

Over 30 minutes of gameplay was also leaked recently, adding to the disappointment. However, the latest update from Rocksteady is a positive development for this release.

At launch, players will still need an internet connection, but this will be changed through an update later. Rocksteady confirmed through its Discord server that it plans to launch the update in 2024, with more information coming soon.

We believe this is a wise move. While Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is primarily an online-focused game, Rocksteady’s expertise in narrative games means that this story is looking quite promising.

Therefore, removing this limitation will enable players to take the game offline without any interruptions. In the past, Arkane Studios promised to consider a similar update for Redfall, highlighting the community’s outrage over such implementations.

The new trailer shows the most detailed look at the Brainiac-controlled Justice League yet. Amanda Waller is also seen briefing Task Force X about the dangerous superheroes.

Overall, the story seems quite brutal, with The Flash telling Wonder Woman to kill the rogue Justice League.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is arriving on February 2, 2024. The game marks Rocksteady’s first current-gen-only title and the last performance from Kevin Conroy as Batman.
