Mortal Kombat 1: The Boys Actor Isn’t Returning As Voice of Homelander

Antony Starr Won't Be In MK1!

Story Highlights
  • Homelander is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as DLC.
  • Antony Starr states that he will not be voicing the character in this game.
  • In the past, Mortal Kombat 11 took a similar approach to Terminator, using someone other than Arnold for the character’s voice acting.

Mortal Kombat 1 recently sold 3 million units. Continuing this success, it will offer Homelander and Omni-Man as guest characters.

Included as part of the game’s first Kombat Pack, these characters are poised to offer two different flavors of the villainous superpowered character archetype. However, it seems this take on Homelander will not be very accurate to the source material.

According to the actor who plays the character, Antony Starr, he will not be doing the voice-over in the game.

Why it matters: Antony Starr’s performance in The Boys has been an integral part of capturing the character’s sadistic nature. Therefore, fans fear that Homelander will not have the same charm in the game.

Recently, Antony Starr posted a picture on Instagram. Curious fans were quick to ask him if he would be doing the voice acting for Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, and he finally responded.

Unfortunately, the voice actor stated that he would not be involved in the game. Though the actor has previously offered vague replies to such questions, he did not deny anything until recently.

In the past, NetherRealm Studios went a similar route with the T-800 (Terminator) guest character. While this character is known for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic performance, Mortal Kombat 11 featured a different voice actor who imitated Arnold’s voice.

However, in Mortal Kombat 1, the studio got J.K. Simmons to voice Omni-Man, so fans were hopeful Antony Starr would be picked for Homelander. Nonetheless, this does not appear to be the case.

While Omni Man was released a few days ago, Homelander is still a few months away.

The character is expected to arrive in the game by the spring of next year. Therefore, the developers still have more time to figure things out and potentially reach an agreement with Antony Starr.

It is disappointing that Homelander will not receive the same attention to detail as Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1. However, we are hopeful that NetherRealm Studios will not disappoint in the gameplay department.
