PS5 Timed-Exclusive For Only 3 Months!

Square Enix has been steadily working on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for over a year since the first announcement in 2022.

Earlier this year, the gaming giant showcased its first gameplay trailer at Summer Game Fest, highlighting the sequel to the well-received Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Two months later, more details about the game have been revealed.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is now confirmed for a February 29, 2024 release.

Why it matters: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a major third-party exclusive for the PS5 console in 2024, ensuring that PlayStation is able to start the year with an early hit on its hands.

The latest announcement comes from Sony’s State of Play presentation. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth became a highlight, as Sony featured a new trailer with over 3 minutes of footage.

The reveal confirmed Final Fantasy will continue its trend of PlayStation exclusivity, but the latest release appears to have a much shorter timed-exclusivity window than recent titles.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a 3-month timed exclusive for the PS5, potentially hinting at a PC release before the end of 2024. The game’s exclusivity window lasts until May 29, 2024.

Following the gameplay trailer, the director shared a message with the fans, addressing the exciting adventure waiting ahead.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the studio has put a lot of effort into the project, spending several years to ensure it lives up to the excitement and anticipation.

He described the story as a bigger and more ambitious undertaking than the previous remake and said:

“We hope you will explore this world in great detail, as nearly 100 hours of adventure awaits.”

2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy 16 is expected to receive a PC port in 2024, with producer Naoki Yoshida confirming work on the PC version has already begun.

Two new DLC stories for the game are also in development, ensuring that the franchise has something for fans of both familiar and new titles from the franchise.
