Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and the next Mass Effect titles are currently in the works at Bioware. The latter is in pre-production, and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is the studio’s most important project at the moment.
While Bioware was not among the various studios present at Gamescom, the developer has provided a small update for fans looking forward to the return of these iconic franchises.
Bioware’s latest blog confirms the studio is letting go of 50 developers.
Why it matters: Layoffs are a part of the industry, but they are never easy for a development studio. They can also be a sign of concern, but this is not the case for Bioware.
The layoffs are being made as a part of Bioware’s focus on streamlining the process of development. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is making steady progress, but the team is looking to dedicate more time to the project.
Bioware believes this change allows for more creativity and ease of development. The studio has also picked the right opportunity to make an announcement, with various EA studios currently looking to hire more developers.
This should ensure that most of the developers losing their positions will be able to find work as soon as possible. Referring to the next Dragon Age release, the blog post states that the studio is looking to ensure it is an outstanding game.
The blog post also confirms that this change will not negatively impact either of the two massive titles from the studio, with Bioware remaining committed to a polished experience at release.
As stated earlier, the next Mass Effect title is currently in pre-production. However, the development of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is in full swing.
Not much is known about the game, and EA recently hinted that it would not be released before April 2024. However, the current lack of information suggests that fans might have to wait till 2025 or 2026 to play Bioware’s next big RPG.
