Remnant 2 Fails To Achieve 60FPS At Native 4K Max Settings With RTX 4090

Only 40FPS Without Ray Tracing At 4K Ultra!

The GeForce RTX 4090 is the best graphics card in Nvidia’s current generation lineup, but it cannot save the PC gaming industry from poor ports. Remnant 2 has recently joined the growing list of terrible PC ports, with the game running poorly on high-end hardware.

DSOGaming has tested the game with a GeForce RTX 4090, and it fails to reach 60FPS at 4K ultra settings.

Why it matters: PC gaming has been flooded with poor ports recently. This has led to growing frustration in the industry, with many hoping that developers will spend more time optimizing AAA titles.

As seen above, a GeForce RTX 4090 and an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D combo managed to achieve around 40FPS at Ultra settings.

However, the result changes when DLSS is enabled, instantly allowing the game to be played at 60FPS. RTX 4000 GPU users can also enable frame generation to boost performance further, leading to over 90FPS.

Still, this is disappointing for users looking to enjoy the title without upscaling. Gunfire Games has recently confirmed that Remnant 2 was designed with upscaling technologies like DLSS, XeSS, and FSR in mind.

Therefore, it is unsurprising that the game struggles to achieve 60FPS at native 4K, even with a GeForce RTX 4090. However, Gunfire Games has also promised future performance updates to help the game run better.

Additionally, this means that users with weaker but capable hardware, like the GeForce RTX 4080, may find it hard to achieve 60FPS at these settings without DLSS 3.

With the growing popularity of upscaling technologies, users already expressed concern about developers using upscaling to compensate for poor optimization. Gunfire Games appears to have used this strategy, and the developer has received a lot of criticism for this decision.

Remnant 2 is set to release for everyone on consoles tomorrow, and the studio has confirmed a 60FPS mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, the PC port has led to concerns about performance on consoles.
