Spider-Man PC Dev Working On Various Remasters For PlayStation

Working More And More On Remasters!

Sony has been working on bringing PlayStation titles to PC, and Nixxes Software has proven to be Sony’s best developer for PC ports. Following the studio’s acquisition in 2021, Nixxes Software has released various PC ports for PlayStation.

These ports include Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The developer is currently working on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is headed to PC on July 26.

In a recent video from Sony, the developer mentions future projects, hinting at various remasters for PlayStation.

Why it Matters:  Remasters have been making significant sales in recent years. They provide nostalgia for old players and introduce older games to new audiences.

Sony posted a Nixxes profile video, introducing the developers and discussing their ambitions for the gaming industry. While talking about their future work, Lead engineer Coen Frauenfelder stated:

“What we provide for PlayStation Studios is high-quality PC ports and also working more and more in creating remasters.”

In terms of remasters, PlayStation has several IPs that have not been revisited recently.

This includes games from the Killzone franchise, Resistance franchise, and more. Many of the games from the PS3 era are stuck on older hardware, and it would not be surprising to see these games returning at some point.

Recent rumors claimed that PlayStation was working on a remaster for Horizon Zero Dawn. While this remaster has not been confirmed yet, Nixxes Software could be leading development on this project.

While mentioning the perks of working with the Nixxes studio, Systems Programmer Alexandra Cunetchi said that Nixxes gets to work on a project for three to six months. This is different from other AAA studios that stick to a game for several years.

With the increasing time and costs of AAA game development, remasters are gaining more popularity in the industry. Remasters allow developers to bring older games back to life, and there is little risk involved in such a project.

PlayStation has no shortage of beloved IPs and games, so fans will be glad to learn that remasters based on many games may already be in development.
