Following the gameplay, NetherRealm has revealed additional details about Mortal Kombat 1. The developer recently confirmed that Mortal Komat 1 would not feature variations like the previous games.

The variation system was introduced in Mortal Kombat X and expanded upon in Mortal Kombat 11.
Mortal Kombat 11 allowed fans to customize the characters to their liking, picking moves to create custom variations. However, it was also limiting in certain aspects. Many felt it did not allow characters to utilize their full arsenal during gameplay.
Variations have been completely removed from Mortal Kombat 1, and they have been replaced by Kameo characters. These support characters allow offensive and defensive options, adding more variety to the gameplay. This should also mean players can now enjoy the complete arsenal of each character.
Additionally, brutalities are returning, which were also featured in the last two Mortal Kombat games.
Street Fighter 6 has set the bar high for fighting games in 2023. It has received excellent reception, so Mortal Kombat has big shoes to fill in the coming months. Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 19, and PC players will require 8Gb VRAM and 100GB of storage to enjoy the game.
