Xbox Trolling PlayStation After Weak First-Party Games Showing

Majorty Of The Games From Showcase Coming To Xbox Too!

The PlayStation Showcase for 2022 has just concluded, and it would not be false to say it left fans wanting more. With PlayStation skipping a showcase last year, expectations were already high, but the gaming giant did not deliver an impressive first-party showing.

Many have also noted that the third-party presence at the PlayStation Showcase was surprisingly frequent, and PlayStation’s rival appears to have taken notice of this. Following the event, Xbox took to Twitter, taking a slight jab at the small number of first-party PlayStation games.

Xbox tweeted a picture compiling all the third-party games shown at the event, also coming to Microsoft’s gaming console.

Why it matters: PlayStation and Xbox have been known to troll each other occasionally, and this is just the latest example of one such attempt from Xbox.

The PlayStation Showcase lasted for just over an hour. However, it featured a plethora of third-party games.

Some of these included anticipated reveals like the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake. However, plenty of games may not have been the best fit for PlayStation’s first major showcase after two years.

PlayStation also featured games like Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy 16. Both games have already had hours of footage over the last few months, with the former also getting a demo and an open beta recently.

On the other hand, first-party games were mainly limited to cinematic trailers for new IPs. This included a recent reveal from Bungie and more. Unsurprisingly, Insomniac Games became the highlight with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Xbox quickly used this opportunity to highlight that many games from the showcase will be playable on Xbox. This also includes one of the show’s stars, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.

It should also be noted that the tweet from Xbox does not include all the third-party games from the showcase. For example, Street Fighter 6 and Dragon’s Dogma 2 are not featured in the tweet.

This may be a sign of confidence from Xbox. The gaming giant will host its showcase on June 11. While Microsoft’s first-party studios have many games in development, not all may appear at the event.

As such, it will be interesting to see the reveals from Microsoft.

Despite the somewhat disappointing show from PlayStation, fans still have much to look forward to with games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Marvel’s Wolverine has already been announced and is also expected in 2024. Other first-party studios from the gaming giant likely have a lot of great titles in development as well.

With PlayStation having wrapped up its showcase, Xbox has the opportunity to impress fans with an outstanding event. However, this will not be easy, and it remains to be seen if the gaming giant can pull it off.
