The Elder Scrolls 6: Several Job Listings Hint At Multiplayer Mode

Bethesda Planning Multiplayer Mode For The Elder Scrolls 6?

Bethesda Game Studios has become famous for its iconic RPG releases, with franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and the highly anticipated Starfield coming later this year. While the team is focused on making Starfield an exciting sci-fi RPG adventure, the developer has already announced the next Elder Scrolls game.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced in 2018, but little has been said about the game since then. Unsurprisingly, The Elder Scrolls 6 is likely a few years away, at the very least, but a new job listing may have revealed an exciting piece of information about the game.

Tech4Gamers noticed that Bethesda Game Studios is currently hiring an Associate Level Designer, and the job listing points to a potential multiplayer component for Elder Scrolls 6. One of the qualifications for the listing states:

“You have strong familiarity with a variety of open world multiplayer games.”

The listing further asks for experience with The Elder Scrolls Construction Set. The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently in development, and the development team may be contemplating various mechanics and gameplay design ideas for the game.

One of these might be a multiplayer component. The Elder Scrolls games have been focused primarily on single-player gameplay. However, the franchise has also introduced a dedicated multiplayer game with Elder Scrolls Online.

However, it should be noted that the job ad is hiring in Rockville. Zenimax Online leads the Elder Scrolls Online development in Hunt Valley. This should mean that this listing is unlikely to refer to Elder Scrolls Online.

Furthermore, we found another job listing for Associate Level Designer at Bethesda Game Studios in Montreal, QC, which also asks for multiplayer experience.

Previously, several fan-made mods for The Elder Scrolls games have shown the potential for multiplayer gameplay in an open-world setting. These mods have gained traction with hundreds of thousands of downloads.

Bethesda Game Studios has also tried a multiplayer offering with Fallout 76. While the game received a mixed reception, the team has likely learned valuable lessons that could be implemented in a future multiplayer mode.

On the other hand, it is possible that Bethesda Game Studios could be planning a spin-off similar to Fallout 76 for The Elder Scrolls. Given the studio’s busy schedule with Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, this seems unlikely, but the possibility still exists.

Nonetheless, the possibilities are exciting for a multiplayer mode in a mainline Elder Scrolls game, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The next game from Bethesda Game Studios, Starfield, is scheduled for September 6. Following its release, the development team will be fully focused on The Elder Scrolls 6 in an attempt at the most ambitious RPG experience from the franchise.
