Resident Evil 4 Remake Gets Flak For Recently Added Microtransactions

Poor Reception To Recent Microtransactions!

Resident Evil 4 Remake was well received and loved by fans worldwide. The game has already sold over 4 million units, currently standing among the best-selling games on Steam.

Though Capcom has done a fantastic job, making it one of the best remakes in the franchise, the developer’s recent move has been controversial among fans. Resident Evil 4 Remake skipped the Mercenaries mode at launch, with an announcement confirming a release after launch.

As promised, the mode has finally arrived as free DLC in the game today, but Exclusive Upgrade Ticket microtransactions have also arrived in the game, which fans aren’t pleased about.

Many are upset with the latest microtransactions calling them scummy. Some have also equated these to traditional cheat codes, but with the addition of money needing to be spent by the consumer.

One Twitter user wrote:

“Oh cool. They ruined Mercenaries again.”

Another user took a more extreme approach to criticize the game, claiming that he would change his Steam review from the initial positive review to a negative one.

Furthermore, fans have stated they will continue to find Pesetas and Spinel in the game to fund weapon upgrades. This is a viable strategy for Resident Evil 4 Remake players, and it does not look like the microtransactions are intrusive to gameplay.

Microtransactions are nothing new to gaming. For better or for worse, they are now an industry standard. Nonetheless, Resident Evil fans are not too impressed with Capcom’s latest decision.

While Resident Evil 4 Remake does not go too far to encourage these microtransactions, the reactions have been far from positive. What do you think about the microtransactions? Please share with us in the comments.
