Forspoken: New Patch Improves Visuals And PC Optimization

Expert Verified By

Less Intensive On PC Now!

Following a disappointing release, Square Enix has released a new patch for Forspoken. While the patch may not be able to convince many to try the game again, it brings several much-needed improvements.

On top of various gameplay adjustments, patch 1.10 brings visual improvements along with PC optimization.

The visual update includes adjustments to lighting and shadows for a better aesthetic overall. Forspoken has also seen an upgrade to textures in certain areas. These changes should alleviate some of the complaints about the disappointing visuals of the game.

However, the PC optimization improvements in patch 1.10 are more significant. The game is now less CPU intensive, and Square Enix claims an up to 23 fps increase depending on the CPU and GPU configuration.

VRAM usage requirements have also been toned down, and Forspoken now shows required memory usage in the PC graphics settings.

All of this should make for a better PC experience. Those looking to learn more about the update can read the complete list of changes on the Square Enix website

The Forspoken developer Luminous Production was recently merged into Square Enix. This was likely done after the game did not meet expectations. Despite the negative reception to the game, Square Enix is moving forward with DLC for the game.

Patch 1.10 seems to be a step in the right direction, but Forspoken has a long way to go. However, many games have recovered from worse states, and Forspoken might be able to do the same with future support and DLC.
