In October last year, CD Projekt Red announced several new projects for the Witcher franchise. This included projects like the open-world remake of The Witcher and a multiplayer offering from Molasses Flood.
Project Sirius aims to offer a new take on the Witcher universe, which the Molasses Flood is developing with support from CD Projekt Red. The developer had previously teased a multiplayer component for the game, and a job listing has now pointed at co-op and PVE elements for Project Sirius.
Furthermore, another job listing has also teased procedural generation for Project Sirius. The Molasses Flood has already worked with similar systems in previous games like The Flame In The Flood, so this is not too far-fetched.
Co-op is always a welcome addition to vast expansive games like the Witcher franchise, and fans will be pleased to learn about this inclusion in the new game. However, the job listing hints at a much more complex multiplayer system than many had initially expected.
According to the job ad, Project Sirius will include game modes, progression, social activities, and more. This means multiplayer could be a massive focus as single-player takes the backseat for The Molasses Flood’s Witcher project.
All this information hints at a unique experience for the Witcher universe. Fans have become accustomed to fantastic single-player stories from CD Projekt Red, but Project Sirius could take the franchise into a bold new direction.
However, fans of the classic formula should not be too worried, as Project Sirius will have plenty of narrative-driven stories to offer. The Molasses Flood could also bring non-linear storytelling along with the plethora of multiplayer options to the new game, as hinted by another job listing.
