RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, RTX 5070 Ti, and RX 9070 XT Are Some of The Most Popular GPUs!

Story Highlight
  • For the longest time, 8GB VRAM GPUs were considered the sweet spot for gaming.
  • Now, in the latest Steam hardware survey, 16GB VRAM GPUs have overtaken 8GB models.
  • The RTX 5060 Ti, 5070 Ti, and RX 9070 XT are some of the most popular choices.

As gaming has grown more intense, high GPU VRAM has become a huge requirement. 8GB seemed to be the sweet spot for the longest time, but amid bad optimization and growing requirements, even this doesn’t seem like a decent capacity.

According to Steam’s latest Steam hardware survey, 16GB VRAM GPUs have finally overtaken 8GB models; however, the RTX 3060/4060 remain the most popular choices, but it seems that, too, will change soon.

Why it matters: The minimum requirement has grown considerably over the years and is now at a point where 8GB seems like a bottleneck for most GPUs. So, the higher GPU variants are now becoming the preferred choice.

16GB VRAM is becoming the new normal capacity for GPUs

Steam Hardware Survey for this month confirms that 16GB VRAM GPUs are now the most popular choice. They have a share of about 25.90% compared to 8GB models that are sitting at around 25.32% of the users.

While the RTX 3060 is still the most popular graphics card, the higher VRAM models that are narrowing the gap include RTX 4060 Ti/5060 Ti 16GB and RTX 5070 Ti. On the AMD side, it includes RX 9070 XT and 9060 XT

AMD’s RX 9070 XT is also included in the list of most popular GPUs

We can argue all we want about the value of what Nvidia’s latest RTX 50 series provides, especially now that the RTX 5070 Ti is selling for over $1,000, but the stats prove that fans are buying it, and 16GB GPUs are becoming the new norm
