A New Extended Look At The Game!

Story Highlights
  • Rise of the Ronin has received a gameplay overview trailer.
  • This footage shows more of the game’s combat.
  • It also shows the traversal system.

Rise of the Ronin is among the many PlayStation exclusives arriving soon. While the game is just two months away, Team Ninja had not shown much uncut footage until recently.

PlayStation addressed this demand with its latest State of Play. Featuring a three-minute-long trailer, this footage highlights the game’s traversal option, combat, and the open world.

Why it matters: PlayStation’s first-party output is light in 2024. Therefore, the gaming giant is relying on partners like Team Ninja to produce various third-party exclusives for its fanbase.

The trailer breaks down movement options at the disposal of players. In addition to a horse for covering large distances, players can utilize a grappling rope for vertical movements. Meanwhile, a glider can be used to cover ground quickly from tall structures.

In terms of combat, the game offers a Souls-like approach. Combat appears familiar to the excellent Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with a similar parry mechanic that encourages precise timing and quick thinking.

Additionally, combat offers plenty of violence. Different tactics in combat scenarios are also encouraged, with Team Ninja showcasing elements like stealth and surprise attacks in this overview footage.

Apart from typical melee weapons, firearms will be crucial to combat. Flamethrowers, bayonets, and more will add an extra dimension to the gameplay, making each encounter enjoyable in Rise of the Ronin.

Rise of the Ronin

As the most extensive showcase of Rise of the Ronin yet, this trailer serves as the best example of what this game offers. Many have compared it to Ghost of Tsushima in the past, but Team Ninja is clearly taking a different approach.

Fans of the studio will immediately find the game familiar. However, unlike recent releases, Rise of the Ronin will present difficulty settings for those who want to enjoy the story.

The impact of player choice is also emphasized throughout the overview. Overall, the game is shaping up to be another exciting release for fans of Team Ninja and newcomers alike.
