Insomniac aims to push PS5 Pro to its limits with Marvel’s Wolverine

In a PlayStation Blog post where developers share how they’ve enhanced their games for PS5 Pro, Insomniac went into detail about their existing and upcoming titles, especially Marvel’s Wolverine.

Insomniac has released four games for the PS5 so far: Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. All these games will have a new Performance Pro mode designed especially for the PS5 Pro

The mode combines the already present fidelity mode, which targets a 4K resolution, and performance mode, which targets 60 FPS, with ray-tracing.

All existing and future Insomniac games will use Performance Pro mode on PS5 Pro

We’re excited to spend even more time finding new ways we can leverage PS5 Pro on games like Marvel’s Wolverine.

In addition, the statement claims that Insomniac is spending a lot of time finding ways to leverage the PS5 Pro for the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine. This hints that the game will also utilize the Performance Pro mode, which targets 4K at 60 FPS with RT

Early testing has proved that while PS5 Pro is significantly more powerful than the base version, the performance isn’t too distant. However, the Pro has PSSR upscaling at its sleeve, which could be a huge contribution to the performance leap.

Nonetheless, Insomniac has been brilliant with their games on the base PS5 as well. All their games have had dedicated performance and fidelity modes. But the smoother FPS with even higher fidelity would just be the cherry on top.
