Many are awaiting the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, the expansion to 2022’s Game of the Year, Elden Ring. The excitement leading up to the launch has been surreal, and FromSoftware has decided to release another trailer to continue the momentum.
Why it matters: Elden Ring lore is very complicated, and each new glimpse at this world offers subtle details that require careful analysis to observe.
The previous trailer revealed information about the bosses, new weapons, abilities, and areas. That was enough to generate a lot of hype, but the new trailer focuses solely on the story.
FromSoftware has focused on the story of Miquella and his fall from grace. The new footage also goes over the war that brought an end to his rule, with Mesmer the Impaler being featured as one of the central characters in this event.
Mesmer is set to be one of the many formidable bosses in the DLC, and this trailer paints a frightening picture of the character. He is said to be a tyrant, using his flames to burn everything that stands in his way.
While everything shown in the trailer is already quite interesting, there’s still a lot we don’t know.

Shadow of the Erdtree will finally arrive on 21st June. With just one month left before release, there’s plenty of reason to be excited. Moreover, FromSoftware is set to debut a brand new Collector’s Edition for the DLC, highlighting just how important this expansion will be.
