Best Rated Game Of 2023!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild ensured that the Nintendo Switch started well, with an incredible launch title to showcase Nintendo’s new hardware. Over six years later, the franchise has returned with a sequel.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is shaping up to be an iconic release for Nintendo in 2023. With just one day left before release, the official reviews for the game have been released, and it looks like Link’s next adventure will be just as impressive as Nintendo promised.

Why it matters: Tears of The Kingdom could be the last big release for the Nintendo Switch before the gaming giant inevitably moves on to a newer generation.

  • IGN 10/10
  • Gamespot 10/10
  • Eurogamer 8/10

Tears of The Kingdom carries much of what already made Breath of The Wild so successful. The gorgeous visuals, soundtrack, and freedom of exploring Hyrule are all present in the sequel. However, Nintendo has expanded on the game.

New mechanics like Ultrahand and Fuse ensure that Zelda fans can utilize this freedom with their creativity for maximum enjoyment. Link can use these mechanics to combine objects, phase through objects above, and more.

All of this means that Tears of The Kingdom’s puzzles and exploration can differ vastly from Breath of The Wild. This should also mean that no two players will have the same experience with the game.

Reviews have also noted that the game runs surprisingly well. While fans have been concerned about the aging Nintendo Switch hardware, this does not appear to be an issue for Tears of The Kingdom.

However, the controls can sometimes feel overwhelming with the number of new mechanics. Players will eventually get used to this aspect, but it might be a problem early on.

Nonetheless, nearly all reviews for the game are incredibly positive. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is currently standing at an incredible 97/100 on Metacritic, making it the highest-rated game in 2023 so far.

Going by its predecessor’s success, the latest game also holds the potential to be the biggest success of 2023. While the Game of The Year competition is looking more challenging than ever, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is shaping up to be a worthy contender for the award.
