We have some very exciting news to share regarding the Vivo X-Fold. It’s a smart folding phone aimed to be a direct competitor to Samsung’s Fold series. The new smartphone will be available in China for retail on 22nd, April 2022.

Despite the fact that the firm has not provided much additional information, we have obtained some exclusive real-life photos that reveal how the foldable phone looks in real life for the first time.

We previously reported on the first leaked renders of the Vivo X Fold, obtained by China’s most trusted microblogger Digital Chat Station, which is very well-known in the Chinese community for successfully leaking smartphone information ahead of time and accurately rendering representations of how a phone might look. His track record is consistent and well-known.

The Chinese Leaker has provided some additional images of the Vivo X fold, which are not just rendered but real-life photos of the foldable phone.

Vivo’s design and appearance are considered similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Oppo’s Find N. Digital Chat Station goes on to say that after using the foldable for the first time, he thinks it’s the best foldable smartphone to get right now.

In addition, the Chinese microblogger discusses the Vivo X Fold’s best elements and its major flaws. The phone is packed with sturdy specifications, which he highly appreciated, and he appeared to be pretty impressed by the pricing point. The Vivo X Fold’s price starts at ¥8,999 (around $1,413) for its 12GB RAM, 256GB storage model. There’s also a 512GB storage variant that’ll retail for ¥9,999 (around $1,570).

Advantages: GN5 outsole full focal length ZEISS image, 49min full 50W wireless fast charge + 40min full 66W wired fast charging, one finger input dual-screen universal ultrasonic screen fingerprint, and “8999” – Digital Chat Station

On the other side, he was pleased with the phone’s smoothness, but he suggested that the DPI for the folding screen be improved to be sharper. He also hinted that the 4600mAh battery would not be able to power such a large screen.

Disadvantages: The system is very smooth, but the DPI for the folding screen UI needs to be improved and optimized, 4600mAh endurance, Z-axis motor- Digital Chat Station

Last but not least, his last impressions were that Vivo had done an excellent job of making the crease appear as seamless as possible and that the overall leather finish was quite good.

Overall, the Vivo X-Fold appears to be a solid phone and a worthy competitor to Samsung’s well-known Foldable series. While the pricing seems significantly lower than Samsung’s latest Foldable, we will have to wait for a global release to fully assess whether it performs better than the Galaxy Z Flip 3. When the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is released, Samsung will be under even more pressure. Hopefully, the increased competition in the foldable market from the Chinese competitor will result in lower prices overall, making foldable phones a viable buying option for a wider audience.
