Dave Lang Suggests Rumbleverse Could Return In Some Way

Making a Comeback?

Rumbleverse was a free-to-play battle royale game released for PC and various platforms on August 11, 2022.

It aimed to break into the free games market with a unique premise and gameplay. Unfortunately, Rumbelverse recently shut down on February 28, just a few months after its release.

During an appearance on The Jeff Gerstmann Show, Iron Galaxy’s Dave Lang briefly discussed the shutdown of Rumbleverse, stating that Iron Galaxy owns the IP and plans to bring it back in some way.

He said:

“We’re focused on different things like trying to find a new home for it.”

Dave Lang also mentioned that relaunching the game was not an option as it would be a difficult and time-consuming task. He regrets not having enough time to give the game a graceful exit.

Unfortunately, Rumbleverse only lasted for two seasons, shutting down in February. The game had a celebratory last month where they handed out free battle passes to the users and also issued refunds to the players who spent money on the battle pass.

The statement implies that the team might look at the concept and utilize it in a new project. This could mean that assets and mechanics from Rumbleverse could return, making for a similar yet fresh experience.

Rumbleverse was generally received positively at launch. The game was nominated for 2 DICE awards, including fighting Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year. However, it never had a good player count to compete with giants like Fortnite and Apex Legends.

Rumbleverse is likely to return in some way, whether in a battle royale mode or a completely different concept. It will be exciting to see where the franchise will be headed in the future.
