PS5 Pro Definitely Coming In 2024!

Story Highlights
  • PlayStation has reportedly told studios to get their games ready for the PS5 Pro by this summer.
  • Teams can access dev kits and ask for certification by August to secure compatibility.
  • If everything goes fine, the PS5 Pro is expected to launch by the end of this year.

The PS5 Pro continues to stay in the news cycle, with new details emerging every few weeks.

Following multiple sources, yet another reliable insider has confirmed the existence of internal Sony documents about this console. According to this source, Sony has been asking its developers to prepare games for the console by the summer.

Why it matters: The lack of an announcement from Sony as we head into the summer has been seen as concerning by some. However, these reports further verify that a reveal is coming soon.

A Render Showcasing PS5 Pro Concept

The Verge has corroborated the PS5 Pro specifications via documents obtained through sources close to Sony. The gaming giant wants to make sure that the studios have already prepared their titles for the Pro console, with a focus on ray tracing

Corroborating the previous reports, The Verge confirmed that the Pro console is using the codename Trinity, and games that are compatible with the console will be tagged as ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced.’

According to the sources, Sony is now sending developer kits to all studios. Teams can ask Sony directly for the kits, with Sony planning to certify games for the hardware by August at the latest.

This provides further evidence for a late 2024 launch. With the formalities out of the way, PlayStation should be able to focus on marketing and releasing the console before the end of 2024.

The latest report also states that Sony has freed up memory for the PS5 Pro. While the base memory will remain the same at 16GB, this console will have access to an additional 1.2GB for game developers.

Other recent developments around the PS5 Pro include Sony taking down a video that recently discussed this console through internal documents.

All of these combined provide more than enough evidence for the legitimacy of recent reports, and everyone now awaits PlayStation’s official announcement. With a showcase rumored for next month, the PS5 Pro might finally show up at this event.
