PlayStation 5 Hasn’t Lived Up To The Hype, Claims Fans On 5th Anniversary

"It Has Been By Far The Worst PlayStation Generation"

Story Highlight
  • The PS5 has officially turned five years old, and it seems like the fandom isn’t satisfied with it.
  • The fandom has claimed that Sony didn’t deliver what it promised, as the base PS5 isn’t very powerful.
  • There are also concerns about it having way fewer exclusives than the previous generations.

PlayStation 5 has sold pretty well so far and is the most profitable console for Sony. So, it must have lived up to the hype, right? PS5’s reveal was met with a lot of positivity, and fans were so hyped for the consoles.

However, has the console lived up to the hype in the span of five years? According to the fans, it hasn’t, which is quite disappointing, given how many price hikes we have faced over the years.

Why it matters: Despite the fandom’s concern, the PS5 is still selling pretty well, and that is because there is no competition left for the gaming giant. Almost every Xbox exclusive game is expected to be released on the PlayStation, so unfortunately, Sony may be able to get away with fake promises.

PlayStation 5 Hype
The PS5 Has Officially Turned Five, But The Fandom Is Disappointed

Many fans on social media have claimed that this generation by Sony wasn’t something remarkable. That is a fact, as the PlayStation 5 has almost ten times fewer exclusives than the PS3 and five times fewer than the PS4.

xMBGx on Twitter posted a tweet on the 5th anniversary of the console, asking the fans whether it has lived up to the hype five years later.

Not even remotely close. They made us buy a Pro version just to get what was promised to us from the base version before we bought it. This whole generation has felt an experiment on us the consumers.

This is a bigger letdown than the PS3. PS3 had a rocky start but then it started turning around with some amazing game at the same point.

The thread is also full of simple “no” responses. Of course, not everyone hates this generation, but the majority has agreed that the console underwhelmed. Some fans have even claimed that it isn’t the console that’s the problem, but the games, which is a genuine concern.

Additionally, the PS5 was marketed as an 8K capable console, which was a significant claim, but the reality is right in front of you.
