Homelander Coming To MK1!

As the release date for Mortal Kombat 1 draws nearer, many are wondering what the game’s complete roster will look like. Following various leaks, a social media comment has led to anticipation for Homelander as a DLC character.

While this was not confirmed, Homelander’s inclusion in Mortal Kombat 1 appears to have been verified by the official TikTok account of The Boys.

Why it matters: Mortal Kombat is one of the biggest fighting game franchises with a long history of guest characters. Previously, characters like Jason Voorhees, Spawn, and RoboCop have been featured in the franchise.

This surfaced when a TikTok user questioned Vought Studios about their potential collaboration with Mortal Kombat after a TikTok video showcased the collaboration with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.

The TikTok account replied:

“MK confirmed.”

Vought Studios further replied to the comment and stated:

“Homelander will be available at some point.”

This confirms the previous rumors about Homelander making his way to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster.

A few months ago, Amazon seemingly leaked the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC roster. This included characters like Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni Man. With Homelander being confirmed, Omni Man also seems likely to join the game.

Homelander’s brutal and vicious nature would make him an ideal fit for the franchise. NetherRealm Studios has likely worked on several gut-wrenching fatalities and brutalities for the character.

The latest Mortal Kombat skips the variation system, replacing it with Kameo characters. The game is also rumored to skip a 1v1 fighting mode. It is scheduled to release on September 19, 2023, coming to all current-gen consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
