Sold Almost 2 Times More Than PC!

Story Highlight
  • According to an analyst firm, the leading platform for Mafia: The Old Country is the PlayStation 5.
  • On the PS5, the game has sold nearly twice as many copies as it has on PC.
  • In contrast, Xbox accounts for just around 10 percent of the total sales.

Mafia: The Old Country didn’t launch to a massive player base on Steam and didn’t seem to perform particularly well. While the game itself is pretty solid, it has received widespread criticism due to poor performance.

Setting that aside, the game received a score of 74 on Metacritic, which, while not ideal, isn’t bad either. However, it’s still enough to make some players hesitant about purchasing it.

Interestingly, PC doesn’t appear to be the leading platform for this game. According to an analyst firm, the PS5 has sold almost twice as many copies as the PC version, making it the dominant platform.

Why this matters: PC boasts a massive gaming community, so it’s impressive to see the PS5 outperforming it in this case.

PlayStation Is The Leading Platform For Mafia The Old Country
PlayStation Is The Leading Platform For Mafia: The Old Country.

According to Aliena Analytics, an analyst firm that uses proprietary data to estimate video game statistics, Mafia: The Old Country has sold around 643,000 copies on the PS5, 337,000 copies on Steam, and 117,000 on Xbox.

This means the PlayStation 5 alone accounts for over 50 percent of total sales, making it the game’s biggest platform by a significant margin. According to the firm, the overall sales sit at around 1.2 million, which isn’t particularly high for a Mafia title.

Nonetheless, it’s surprising to see the PS5 leading by such a large margin compared to other platforms. This is particularly surprising, especially since the same firm recently revealed that PC was the leading platform for Helldivers 2, outselling the PS5 version by over 7 million copies.

That said, it’s important to keep in mind that this data doesn’t come directly from the game’s developer or publisher. These figures are based on third-party estimates, which, while often insightful, aren’t always completely accurate.

As such, we recommend taking these numbers with a grain of salt until official data is released.
