- GTA 6 getting delayed opened the doors for publishers who previously were scared to compete with the game.
- Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 VA now believes that they have a solid chance at winning the GOTY award.
- Still, they’ll have to go up against games like Split Fiction, Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, and more.
Many had already foreseen GTA 6’s delay for quite some time now, since Rockstar Games was practically silent on the release. While the decision might be disappointing for fans, publishers are rejoicing that they won’t have to compete with such a colossal release anymore.
Following GTA 6’s delay, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s VA thinks that they have a chance at sweeping the GOTY award.
Why it matters: Even the most solid releases are scared of GTA 6 showing that nobody doubts Rockstar Games’ ability to deliver consistently. However, with the game’s delay, other titles may have a shot at taking the spotlight.
Luke Dale, voice of Hans Capon, cited GTA 6’s delay, saying “they’re in for a shot” at GOTY.
However, even with GTA 6 out of the equation, they’d still have to face pretty tough competition since 2025 has seen some of the strongest releases in recent times.
Among the notable examples are Split Fiction and Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, with their near-perfect scores. Oblivion Remastered is also another competitor, and we’re not even halfway through 2025.
Still, if Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 wins the GOTY award, it would be an impressive achievement for Warhorse Studio that an AA game topped some of the best releases of 2025 with a mere budget of $40 million.
Regardless, the game has already been a massive success and a record breaker. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is now within the 50 most popular games on Steam with a peak player count of over 250k players.
