Intel has reduced the prices on its 12th-generation Alder Lake desktop lineup ahead of the Raptor Lake Refresh launch. The 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh desktop lineup is expected to launch next month.
With its new price cuts, Intel is trying to get the attention of users who are yet to upgrade to the current LGA 1700 platform. It should be noted that the 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh lineup will be the last upgrade for the current Intel platform.
Reducing the price on the 12th-generation Alder Lake desktop lineup likely makes a lot of sense for Intel. This would help Intel avoid direct competition with the 13th-generation Raptor Lake desktop lineup.
The discounted prices are already in effect, though the price cuts are limited to the US market for now and available across major retailers. The discounted Alder Lake desktop processors include the Intel Core i9-12900KF, Core i7-12700KF, and Core i5-12600KF.
The Intel Core i9-12900KF is a 16 cores and 24 threads chip originally priced at $564 and now available for $330. On the other hand, the Core i7-12700KF features 12 cores and 20 threads and has been discounted to $220 compared to its original $384 price.
Finally, the Intel Core i5-12600KF features a total of 10 cores and 16 threads and is now priced at an affordable $156. This makes it an extremely valuable processor for budget and mid-range PC gamers.
It is important to note that these offers are only valid with applicable coupons on both Amazon and Newegg. Unlike the new AM5 platform from AMD, the LGA 1700 platform also offers a cheaper alternative with support for DDR4 memory, making it a great budget option.
