Netherlands' Most Expensive Media Production of All Time!

Horizon Forbidden West has just crossed the one-year mark, and the game has become quite popular among PlayStation owners. The title is also coming to the PlayStation Plus catalog of games, and some new information about the game has surfaced recently.

According to IMDb, Horizon Forbidden West, I had a budget of over 100 Million Euros. This makes it the Netherlands’ most expensive media production of all time.

PlayStation 5 Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is an impressive successor to Guerilla Games’ previous title. It improves in many ways upon the original, especially in the technical aspects. Therefore, it makes sense that Sony allocated a massive budget for the title.

Sony games have traditionally showcased incredible production values. First-party games from the gaming giant have become notorious for their incredibly high bar of quality, and Guerilla Games’ latest release was no different.

Horizon Forbidden West delivered an exceptional port for the PlayStation 5 console. Compared to most cross-gen games released around a similar period, Horizon Forbidden West made much better use of the PlayStation 5 hardware while delivering a great experience on the PlayStation 4 at the same time.

It also earned the best graphics accolade from Digital Foundry, beating impressive releases like The Callisto Protocol and more. Therefore, it is not difficult to see why the game costs an incredible amount.

However, it would be wise to take the information with a slight grain of salt. Sony has not officially confirmed the budget for the game, and IMDb’s information might not be a hundred percent accurate.

The title will receive a brand new DLC this year. However, the DLC will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 consoles to deliver the best experience for the new hardware.

Furthermore, Guerilla Games is planning a new multiplayer entry for the Horizon franchise. A job listing has suggested that the project could be headed to mobile devices, but that remains to be seen.

Horizon Forbidden West might also get a PC release at some point, judging by Sony’s plethora of PC ports in recent years. The previous game in the franchise is currently available on the platform, so it would not be far-fetched to imagine the latest entry coming to the platform eventually.
