Steam Now Accepting Refunds For Everyone!

Story Highlight
  • Helldivers 2 has received thousands of negative reviews on Steam after the recent mandatory PSN requirement.
  • This requirement created problems for users since PlayStation support only exists in 69 out of 195 countries.
  • Sony has now delisted the game from most countries.

Helldivers 2 has recently received a lot of backlash. There is nothing wrong with the game itself, but the backlash is mainly about the mandatory PlayStation account requirement introduced within the last two days.

Since PlayStation accounts are supported in less than 70 countries worldwide, many people are now unable to enjoy this co-op shooter. As a response, Sony has delisted the game from over 120 countries, which has generated yet another wave of backlash.

Why it matters: Helldivers 2 did not launch with this requirement, making it brutal for those who were enjoying the game prior to the recent update.

Helldivers 2 Can No Longer Be Bought on Steam In Various Regions

PlayStation is officially supported in just 69 out of 195 countries.

Users on social media have pointed out that the game is now banned in a majority of countries. We can also confirm that Helldivers 2 is no longer available to be purchased on our local Steam account.

Fans who have brought Hellidvers 2 in such countries are no longer able to play it. While Arrowhead Game Studios hoped to resolve the matter, it seems Sony was less willing to compromise.

Moreover, Valve is now offering refunds to all users. This means that players with hundreds of hours logged into Helldivers 2 are also able to avail this offer after the recent events that have transpired.

Helldivers 2 Seems To Have Become 2024’s Most Hated Game.

We don’t understand how Sony made such a poor decision under these circumstances, as this will only attract a tremendous wave of backlash.

Arrowhead Game Studios has done everything in the past to make the community experience better, but it doesn’t have much say in this matter. All this is doing is ruining this developer’s recent efforts.

Ultimately, Sony is to be blamed here. Helldivers 2 could suffer an early death because of these measures. The game was on track to be the biggest release of 2024, though this may no longer be possible.

Signing up for a PlayStation account where it is available is hardly an issue, but what can people do when the service isn’t even available in their respective country? This is the problem that could become Helldivers 2’s undoing.
