- Hellblade 2 has received new details during the latest Xbox Developer Direct.
- The game is launching on 21 May.
- It will offer an experience lasting around 8 hours like its predecessor.
Hellblade 2 officially arrives on 21 May, positioned as Xbox’s first major AAA launch for 2024. Since its reveal in 2019, this game has been met with incredible anticipation.
Ninja Theory’s meticulously crafted narrative from the first game left a lasting impression on players, and hopes are high for an even better title with the sequel. While this game is bigger and better than its predecessor in nearly every single way, Hellblade 2 won’t be much longer, offering around 8 hours of playtime.
Why it matters: Consumers have grown accustomed to longer games, asking for more playtime with each new AAA release.
Following the recent Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Theory has confirmed multiple details about Hellblade 2. The game will be released on 21 May, and a new Xbox Wire post states it will be similar in length to its predecessor.
On average, the first Hellblade required around 7-9 hours to beat. Therefore, fans can look forward to nearly 8ish hours of paranoia, action, and immersive storytelling when Hellblade 2 releases on Xbox Series S|X and PC.
While some may find this game short, Ninja Theory has cut the price to reflect this lower playtime. The studio’s upcoming AAA release will be priced at just $50, making it quite a bit cheaper than the $70 standard many have become used to.
Hellblade 2 faces the mighty task of opening Xbox’s first-party lineup in 2024. However, the game’s latest footage shows a confident adventure ready to take on this challenge and pioneer a new wave of cinematic adventures from Xbox.
We believe this type of game is just what Xbox was missing in its first-party lineup thus far, so it will be interesting to see the reception at launch. Microsoft certainly has high hopes, reportedly expecting Metacritic scores in the 90s.
