CD Projekt Red Keeps Hiring The Best Developers For The Franchise!

Story Highlight
  • Fool’s Theory has hired the lead mission designer of GTA 6 to work on the upcoming Witcher 3 DLC.
  • Guillermo Diaz Barquin will be the quest designer for Songs of the Past.
  • The developer had worked at Rockstar for almost 7 years before switching to Fool’s Theory in February.

With multiple Witcher projects currently in development, CDPR has left no stone unturned in hiring the best talent for the franchise. From the combat designer of God of War to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s writer, the studio has brought in one gem after another to work on The Witcher 4.

The Songs of the Past DLC, which is set to be the next entry in the IP, is getting the same treatment from CD Projekt Red as the company has brought in a Rockstar developer to work on the expansion.

Why it matters: Hiring talent from one of the biggest games in history for an expansion shows how committed CD Projekt Red is to delivering quality products.

As revealed on LinkedIn, Fool’s Theory, the developer of the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion, has hired the senior mission designer of GTA 6 to work on the DLC.

Guillermo Diaz Barquin joined the studio in February 2025 as the Lead Quest Designer for Songs of the Past and is still working on the expansion, according to his LinkedIn. The developer was the lead mission designer for GTA 6 and worked at Rockstar for almost 7 years before leaving in 2023.

CD Projekt Red has already shown incredible commitment to The Witcher 4 by bringing in the industry’s top talent, like the cinematic animator from Expedition 33. From the looks of it, the Polish studio is also extending this mandate to Fool’s theory, so Songs of the Past can turn out to be a worthy addition to The Witcher 3.

CDPR is once again hiring the best developers to work on the franchise.

Hype for the upcoming expansion is already through the roof, with CD Projekt Red confirming it will be similar in size to the Blood and Wine DLC. Hopefully, the former Rockstar lead designer can help Fool’s Theory meet the 2027 launch date and avoid another delay for Songs of the Past.
