This Was Certainly A Deal Of The Century!

Story Highlight
  • A gamer purchased over $1,000 of high-end gaming PC hardware for $86.
  • This massive discount was applied due to a pricing glitch on Newegg.
  • The site honored the deal rather than canceling it, earning praise from gamers worldwide.

Online shopping is certainly convenient for multiple reasons, but glitches can slip through the cracks sometimes and allow shoppers to save hundreds of dollars in the process. A gamer got quite lucky and bought costly PC hardware for a mere fraction of the price.

A Newegg shopper discovered a combo discount error on the site while building a new PC, utilizing it to buy over $1000 worth of high-end gaming hardware for a staggering $86 only.

Why it matters: Newegg’s combo pricing error has helped the shopper save over $925 in what would have otherwise been an extremely expensive deal. Many PC enthusiasts have appreciated the site for honoring the deal instead of cancelling it.

The Reddit user u/KTsoFresh ended up saving over $925 while purchasing a Ryzen 5 7600X CPU, a Gigabyte B850M Eagle motherboard, 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 RAM, and a 240mm AIO liquid cooler.

The 32 GB memory alone was over $550 due to the ongoing RAM apocalypse, yet the combo discount error basically absorbed all of its price by applying nearly $800 in savings.

The rest of the credits were applied to the other components, while the 7600X came with a free AIO cooler, an $85 value.

Newegg’s response also caught everyone off guard. It reacted honorably with a lighthearted thumbs-up emoji in the Reddit post. Many users argued that other stores would have canceled the deal instead of letting the user bag such a massive discount out of goodwill.

While the combo discount error was short-lived, at least one other user took advantage of it. Unfortunately, they did not specify what products were purchased. The other users are also out of luck now, as the glitch is no longer available to be exploited.

Is this the best PC hardware deal you have ever seen? Can anything else top this amazing discount in your books? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
