Final Fantasy 6 Director Expresses Desire To Remake The Game

Another Final Fantasy Remake Could Be Made!

Final Fantasy 6 is regarded as one of the best games in the franchise. Released in 1994, the game could use a remake to reach a newer audience. In an interview last month, Yoshinori Kitase, the Director of Final Fantasy 6, stated that remaking the game would be challenging.

However, he also mentioned that several developers had approached him about the possibility of a remake. In a recent interview, the Director once again expressed his interest in remaking the game, implying that the remake might be possible after all.

Why it matters: Recent remakes of older Final Fantasy games, such as Final Fantasy 7, have been well-received by fans. Remaking Final Fantasy 6 with a modern take would please older fans and introduce the game to a newer audience.

While this suggests that the game is a candidate for a potential remake sometime in the future, it may not happen anytime soon.

Square Enix is currently occupied with other Final Fantasy projects like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, part two of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. Additionally, more pixel remasters are also being considered by the studio.

Fans are also anticipating that Final Fantasy 16 might receive DLC content, and it seems the developers will be busy with these games for the next few years.

Square Enix also recently partnered with Xbox and announced the release of Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox. While the last two Final Fantasy games have been exclusive to PlayStation, this partnership marks a change.

Therefore, the potential Final Fantasy 6 remake could also be available on Xbox. However, it remains to be seen if Square Enix will consider the Director’s suggestions to revisit the iconic JRPG.
