Far Cry 7 Reportedly Features High-Stakes PvEvP Extraction Shooter Gameplay After Internal Reboot

Far Cry 7 Will Be Quite Different Than Other Releases In The Series!

Story Highlight
  • A reliable Ubisoft insider says Far Cry 7 features high-stakes PvEvP gameplay after the internal reboot.
  • The 72-hour time limit and the controversial weapon durability feature are also included in the game.
  • Players will have to rescue up to 6 family members and face the Sons of Truth cult organization.

Previous reports revealed that Ubisoft has been developing two Far Cry titles over the years, a mainline game and a separate multiplayer experience. Unfortunately, both these games have faced deep development struggles and several internal reboots so far.

An insider now reveals that Far Cry 7 is opting for a ‘high-stakes PvEvP’ extraction shooter gameplay loop instead of a more traditional experience after internal reboots.

Why it matters: Ubisoft is going for quite an eccentric gameplay loop for its next mainline Far Cry entry, according to rumors. The reception to these leaks online has been quite mixed, with many gamers already showing disappointment over the game’s structure.

New Far Cry 7 leak reveals the game will feature a PvEvP extraction shooter gameplay loop.
New Far Cry 7 leaks reveal it will feature a PvEvP extraction shooter gameplay loop.

This leak comes via RogueTx on Twitter, a reliable Ubisoft dataminer and leaker with a good track record. He also reaffirms the previously leaked details about Far Cry 7’s Sons of Truth cult and the 72-hour in-game campaign time limit.

The game will also reportedly feature safehouses, the controversial weapon durability mechanic, and wild animals like grizzly bears that players will have to face during exploration.

If the extraction shooter gameplay loop applies to Far Cry 7’s campaign, then players may have to form squads with others to rescue the kidnapped family members from the Sons of Truth cult.

Far Cry 6
Fans have been waiting for a new Far Cry title for several years.

It’s also possible that the extraction shooter gameplay is for the multiplayer component of Far Cry 7 or the separate multiplayer title supposedly in development, as the leaker never explicitly clarifies the details.

At least the mainline title is rumored to launch next year, alongside Assassin’s Creed Hexe.

RogueTx was responsible for leaking a lot of details about Ubisoft’s now-canned xDefiant, but we still suggest taking these rumors with a pinch of salt.

Do you think Ubisoft will go such a drastic route for Far Cry 7? Are you excited for an extraction shooter gameplay loop, or would you prefer a more traditional experience? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
