- Fallout 4 next-gen update is now live for most PC, PS5, and Xbox Series users.
- The update adds 60 FPS support for consoles, ultra-wide support for PCs, and further improvements and tweaks.
- It will also likely increase the already high, soaring player base of Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 has seen a major resurgence after the release of the Fallout TV Show. Amidst all the hype, Bethesda has finally started rolling out the next-gen update for Fallout 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Why it matters? Fallout 4 didn’t have a native version for the current generation consoles. But, with today’s update, it’ll not only support next-gen features but will also be Steam Deck verified.
Bethesda has also chosen the perfect time to drop the update as the IP’s popularity is soaring. It has hit over 90K players on Steam for the first time since 2016. In addition, the franchise also reached 5 million players in a day.
The PS5 and Xbox Series consoles will get a performance and quality mode with the next-gen update. The performance mode will finally enable 60 FPS gameplay. In addition, the free update also brings a lot of bug fixes and stability improvements.
The game will now have wide and ultra-wide screen support for PC users. Moreover, there are changes to the creation kit, some quest updates, and bug fixes. It should be noted that the update is entirely free, just like CDPR did with The Witcher 3.
The update will likely multiply the count with the massive surge in the player base. It also comes just in time for the weekend, so we can expect the current player record to break again.
Fallout’s return to glory is certainly something we don’t see often, but it is very impressive. This has also led Bethesda to comment about Fallout 5, which, although in the works, isn’t expected to come out any time soon.
