Xbox Confirms Fable Won’t Appear At Gamescom 2025, Hinting At Further Delay

The Gaming Giant Will Showcase Over 30 Games!

Story Highlight
  • Xbox has recently revealed its Gamescom lineup, featuring over 30 games.
  • However, among those games, Fable, a highly anticipated title, is missing.
  • The game has already been delayed once, but its absence from Gamescom suggests another delay is possible.

Fable is one of Xbox’s biggest upcoming games, originally announced with a 2025 release window. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, the title was delayed, and it no longer has a confirmed launch date.

Since then, fans have heard little to nothing about the project, and the silence has started to spark concern within the community. That concern has only grown after Xbox revealed its lineup for Gamescom, with Fable noticeably absent from the list. This omission could hint at yet another delay.

Why it matters: It has been a long time since Microsoft shared anything official about Fable, and the lack of updates is worrying. The recent layoffs affecting thousands of Microsoft employees may have also impacted the game’s development, adding to fears of further setbacks.

Xbox Gamescom Lineup
Xbox Will Have A huge Presence at Gamescom.

Microsoft has revealed a lineup of over 30 games for Gamescom, but one notable absence has caught fans’ attention: the highly anticipated Fable.

This omission comes during a year when Microsoft has laid off around 14,000 employees, a move that may have impacted the game’s development and pushed it back even further. The studio has yet to confirm a release date, and for now, it doesn’t seem ready to make any announcements.

While another major event, the Tokyo Game Show, is on the horizon, Microsoft is unlikely to have a significant presence there. That leaves The Game Awards later this year as the next big stage where Fable could potentially appear, though at this point, all signs seem to suggest another delay.

Fable delay
An insider previously stated that Fable may slip into 2027 and that the delay was so it can be launched day one on PS5.

Hopefully, development is progressing smoothly and the game can still make it to an early 2026 launch, sparing fans an even longer wait.

Regarding the Gamescom event, it is worth noting that there will be over 20 titles to play, which will include the first public hands-on opportunities for multiple games. There will also be a demo for Hollow Knight: Silksong
