- Death Stranding 2 is currently on track for a 2025 release.

Hideo Kojima’s latest IP, Death Stranding, has become a major hit and needs no introduction. The director is also working on a much-anticipated sequel, promising more violence, bigger stakes, and another ambitious story.
While marketing has remained fairly quiet since its first reveal in 2022, it seems work on Death Stranding 2 has been quite smooth. Hideo Kojima suggests that voice acting and motion capture have been wrapped up.
Why it matters: While there are many big titles coming next year, Death Stranding 2 is on everybody’s radar. It should also serve as a major flagship release for PlayStation in 2025.
According to Famitsu, the information comes directly from Hideo Kojima. The director provided a small update on NHK’s radio broadcast, stating that actors had finished their work on the project.
He states that the team has entered the game’s final adjustment phase. In this phase, the game will undergo various adjustments, such as scene deletion and addition, gameplay adjustments, performance tweaking, and more.
According to the report, the phase will last about a year, which should allow Kojima Productions to meet its 2025 launch target. During the recent State of Play, fans got a new look at the Death Stranding 2, highlighting the studio’s impressive work so far.
Thanks to the use of the Decima engine, Death Stranding 2 aims to offer a much more enhanced experience. From the visuals to the scope of the experience, the sequel aims to dial everything up a notch.
With PlayStation’s next big showcase expected later this month, Hideo Kojima may have prepared a brand new Death Stranding 2 trailer for audiences. If this ends up being the case, we can also expect a slew of new information on the title.
