Players Think The Remaster Is Unnecessary.

Story Highlight
  • The Days Gone remaster is drawing criticism from fans as they deem the game unnecessary.
  • All the comments under the announcement trailer are asking Sony for a sequel, not a remaster
  • Days Gone 2 was originally in development before being canceled.

Sony conducted its latest State of Play last night and made a flurry of exciting announcements ranging from a new Borderlands title to the PC release date of Stellar Blade. But, one reveal didn’t stand out as much for the audience and has disappointed many fans.

Days Gone Remastered got its first official announcement last night and is set to launch this April. However, fans are less than happy with this announcement from Sony as many just want a sequel to the 2018 game and not another unwanted remaster.

Why it matters: Sony developing a remaster of Days Gone instead of a sequel is an indictment of its fan service as no player wanted a rehash of the old game.

Fans Demand Days Gone Sequel
Fans are not happy with the Days Gone remastered announcement.

The comments under the trailer of Days Gone Remastered echo the same sentiment, with fans in disarray over this decision to make a rehash of the original and not a sequel to the adventure title.

One reply said that no one needs a remaster as the game was already pretty good-looking on the old-gen consoles. Another fan pointed out how the Nero side missions in the first title showcase the need for a Days Gone sequel while some said not making a sequel is “criminal“.

The Days Gone remaster will have a few new perks including permadeath mode, speedrun mode, and new accessibility features but none of these things are enough to convince fans a remaster is required.

A sequel of the 2018 Bend Studios title was in development but the developer itself cancelled the game according to reports. The game’s director also said last year that a sequel to the original was never going to happen because Sony was never a fan of the game.

Consequently, we aren’t getting Days Gone 2 but if you played the game on PlayStation 4 you can upgrade to the remaster for $10.
