"We Want To Become Global Creator of Pop Culture And Entertainment"

Story Highlight
  • CDPR’s CEO says the studio wants to offer global entertainment across different mediums.
  • The team is now focusing on expanding with films, animation, and books.
  • At the same time, it will continue to produce class-leading RPGs for millions of gamers.

CDPR is currently hard at work on The Witcher 4, promising exciting innovations regarding the NPCs, open-world, combat, and more. By all means, the upcoming RPG is shaping up to be a major step forward for the studio, but CDPR is now more ambitious than ever.

As per the company’s joint CEOs, CDPR now intends to grow into a creator of global entertainment that extends beyond gaming.

Why it matters: Gaming IPs are more popular than ever today, giving studios the opportunity to appeal to audiences that may not necessarily play games.

Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk Edgerunners Was A Huge Success For The Franchise

Speaking to XYZ, CEOs Adam Badowski and Michal Nowakowski discussed the studio’s initial ambitions of becoming a leader of the RPG genre. Needless to say, CDPR achieved this ambition a long time ago.

However, the team has now shifted its focus to a broader goal. As per Michal Nowakowski, a successful game doesn’t guarantee another hit in the future, so teams need to work continuously for recurring success.

This ambition previously resulted in projects like Cyberpunk Edgerunners, an anime adaptation that greatly revived Cyberpunk 2077. As per the joint CEO, CDPR now intends to pursue such projects with greater frequency to become an icon in the entertainment business.

Our ambition is even higher. We want to become a global creator of pop culture and entertainment.

-Michal Nowakowski

These projects will span films, TV shows, books, and animation. Toward this end, the team has already teased a potential sequel to Cyberpunk Edgerunners.

The Witcher 4
The Witcher 4 Is Expected To Launch In A Few Years

At the same time, CDPR will continue to make the best RPGs in the world, offering even higher quality entertainment for millions of fans across the globe.

What are your thoughts on the studio’s new focus? Do you look forward to seeing more spin-offs and adaptations of the studio’s biggest IPs? Let’s discuss this in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.
