Capcom Now Sells More Units On PC Than All Three Consoles Combined

PC Accumulated More Sales Than Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo!

Story Highlight
  • Capcom recently released its FY25 first-half earnings report detailing declines in net sales and income.
  • The giant also revealed that most of its consumers are from PC.
  • PC platform accumulated 54% of the sales, meaning it was more than all the three consoles combined.

Capcom recently released its earnings report for the first half of 2024. The gaming giant seems to have faced steep net sales and income declines. However, more units were sold on PC than on all of the consoles combined

Why it matters: PC gaming is continuously growing, and so is console gaming, but these graphs show that the former is still the most popular platform for gamers

Capcom PC Sales
The majority of Capcom’s Player Base Seems To Be On The PC

The earnings report from Capcom revealed that the giant has sold more units on PC than any of the consoles in the first half of 2024. It has sold over 20 million units so far, and 54% came directly from the PC platform.

Lately, many have been badmouthing PC players that they don’t buy games at all, given the recent PlayStation 5 ports on the platform weren’t that successful. However, the PSN requirement played a major role in that, and this new report from the Japanese publisher is a perfect alibi.

PC digital sales increased from 48% to 54% compared with the previous Fiscal year, which shows that the platform keeps growing. Now, Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, and it is the most wish-listed game on Steam; not only that, but it is also among the top 5 best sellers even though there is a lot of time for its release.

This game will arguably boost the player base of the Japanese publisher even more. Another hyped game Capcom is expected to release next year is Resident Evil 9. However, its Metacritic page hints that the company might skip the day one PC launch

That could be because of technical difficulties, as the game is rumored to be open-world. Given how performance issues were a major problem in Dragon’s Dogma 2, the company might be focusing on optimizing the game solely for the console first.

However, that might not be ideal, as most of its fandom is on PC. What do you think of the Japanese company’s PC platform leading in sales? Are you a team PC or team consoles? Let us know in the comments section below or join the Tech4Gamers official forums
