- Reliable leakers state Xbox is hosting its annual showcase on June 9.
- Sources believe Microsoft will announce Call of Duty for Game Pass at the event.
- Therefore, older games will likely join the service during the same month.
Call of Duty’s arrival on Game Pass was one of the more exciting parts of Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard deal. For consumers, this meant that over twenty games from the IP would be instantly available through a monthly subscription.
However, while Call of Duty 2024 is expected to launch in the service from day one, Microsoft has yet to add the older games to Game Pass. It seems the wait for these games will soon be over, with a leaker pointing to an announcement in June.
Why it matters: Many fans still long to play their favorite games from Activision’s massive franchise through the subscription.
According to Insider Gaming, the next Call of Duty game will be featured at Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase.
Other sources confirm this showcase is scheduled for June 9, unveiling release dates for games like Indiana Jones. However, Insider Gaming also states that Microsoft will make an announcement on the older Call of Duty games at the event.
Since shadow drops have recently been a common theme for the gaming giant, the announcement could be followed by instant additions of these games to the service.
It is important to note that Activision Blizzard became part of Xbox nearly six months ago. Therefore, we would not be shocked if preparations to add this series to Game Pass were nearly complete.
Diablo 4 also joined the subscription recently.
While sources could not reveal much more, past leaks have hinted at Call of Duty 2024 being set in the Gulf War. This entry will finally see Treyarch returning with a brand new game after 2020.
The older Call of Duty games still enjoy popularity among gamers. Late last year, an update fixed many of the problems in these games, leading to a major resurgence. Therefore, Game Pass could lead to a similar impact.
