All Major Blizzard IPs Are Doing Really Well and Generating Millions!

Story Highlight
  • Xbox is currently going through a major reset that has led to thousands of layoffs.
  • Despite the layoffs, Blizzard Entertainment still has tons of projects in the works.
  • These include new games in the Diablo universe, a StarCraft shooter, and more.

Xbox layoffs have really hit the company hard. Multiple major studios have seen their workforce decrease by huge numbers, and 4 studios have also gone independent. However, one particular studio is still going strong with its projects.

From what’s known, Blizzard Entertainment saw a very small number of layoffs. An insider has now revealed that the company is currently working on tons of projects, including new Diablo and StarCraft projects, amid all the chaos.

Why it matters: Microsoft splurged a lot of money and effort when it acquired Activision Blizzard, as it was supposed to be one of its premier studios. So, despite the overall situation, the studio’s projects seem to be unaffected.

There’s tons of new projects in the works. New stuff in Diablo; I wrote about a StarCraft shooter in development. A lot of cool stuff is happening at Blizzard right now.

In a recent video, Jason Schreier went in depth about the current situation at different Xbox studios following over 3,000 layoffs. Talking about Blizzard, he said the studio is in a much better place than it was with its IPs.

Overwatch is doing fairly well now; World of Warcraft and Diablo have been generating millions. There are also a ton of games in development, including new content in Diablo and a highly rumored StarCraft shooter.

However, while for now the studio is currently quite protected, the layoffs will continue, and the developers will be worried about keeping their jobs in the next 3 months, and it will also decide what the future of the current projects will be.
