Also Strong Contender For Game of The Year!

Story Highlights
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 was a top-notch release this year, gathering impressive critical scores.
  • While the game is among the favorites to win Game of the Year, it is the most-voted title in the Players’ Voice award category.

As we are approaching The Game Awards, the anticipation for new reveals and the biggest award of the year has increased dramatically.

While the critics will decide who takes home most of the awards, the Players’ Voice category provides fans a chance to pick their favorite games of 2023. Following the announcement, many are rushing to vote in this poll, but a familiar game is at the top.

With several thousand votes, Baldur’s Gate 3 is leading the poll.

Why it matters: This category is expected to be the most competitive since passionate fans vote for their preferred games, inviting unexpected outcomes.

Baldur's Gate 3

This result is not surprising since Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the two most nominated games at the event. It also won Ultimate Game of the Year at Golden Joystick earlier this month.

Looking at the statistics, Larian’s CRPG is on the top with more than 37K votes, surpassing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with a margin of over 10K votes, which is quite impressive.

On the other hand, the next few games on the list are not too far apart. For example, Alan Wake 2 in 6th place is only 3K votes behind the 2023 Zelda entry, which is in second place at the moment.

Fan opinions aside, Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the favorites for Game of the Year. After the game dominated critical reviews, there was little doubt about its presence at this year’s awards show.

The game has delivered in nearly every aspect, whether it be the RPG elements, soundtrack, or narrative. Therefore, this level of quality has earned praise from the entire industry this year.

Another notable game on the list is Cyberpunk 2077. After a massive resurgence in September, the game has continued to maintain 100K players on Steam, earning over 26K votes for the Players’ Voice award.

While anything can happen, Baldur’s Gate 3 appears set to take this award home next month. Because of the excitement around this CRPG, it might become the most awarded game of the event in December.
