The turn-based genre isn’t the most popular among the masses. However, it has been significantly helped by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which proves it can be awesome if done right. The title has become so popular that even other studios are praising it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 publisher has praised Clair Obscur and expects the title to sell many more copies, even topping 8 to 10 million units, which could be huge considering it was the debut title for the Sandfall Interactive.
Why it matters: Clair Obscur has gone on to sell over 2 million copies in just a few days, and is still highly popular on Steam, hinting that it’ll definitely sell a lot more in the future.
Replying to Clair Obscur selling 2 million copies, Baldur’s Gate 3’s publishing lead says this is an ‘incredible achievement’ for the title. He says it can easily sell 6 million copies and even top 8-10 million sales.
This will be a huge feat for the studio if the game hits these numbers. Although selling so much despite being on Game Pass and clashing with The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered is nothing short of impressive, too.
Sandfall has done an incredible job, and the title is even the top-rated game of the year so far. The lead developer revealed that it was a passion project because he was bored at Ubisoft and left the company, and the result is quite apparent.
