Dominated All Platforms In 2023!

Story Highlights
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 was shadow-dropped on the Xbox platform last week.
  • It is currently the third-best-selling title on the platform.
  • The game is doing better than various recent releases on the consoles.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is undoubtedly the biggest release of the year, and the title has completely dominated 2023 with many milestones. Bagging Game of the Year at TGA 2023 and Golden Joystick, it has highlighted unmatched qualities on more than one occasion.

The game was initially released in August for PC, and just a month after this launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 joined PlayStation’s library in September. With 2023 almost at its conclusion, the game was shadow-dropped for Xbox last week.

Soon after this release, the RPG joined the top 3 best-selling games on the platform.

Why it matters: This outcome was foreshadowed after Baldur’s Gate 3 dominated Steam and PlayStation Store. Looking at the charts, the Xbox release did not disappoint.

At the time of writing, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the third best-selling title on Xbox, falling behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The game’s digital deluxe edition is also selling well, standing at 4th position on the best sellers list.

The game was released less than a week ago and has already beaten recent releases like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Other games like Ark Survival Ascended have also fallen behind.

It should be noted that games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil 4 Remake are currently on sale and available at half the price of Baldur’s Gate 3. Still, Larian Studios’ RPG stands tall above the competition.

Despite the current popularity, Baldur’s Gate 3 has faced a few issues on Xbox. Players reported losing progress in the game because of a glitch, among other issues recently, but the developers were quick to respond and have already released a stability patch.

Baldur's Gate 3

At this rate, the RPG is expected to continue selling well across all platforms. Baldur’s Gate 3 was already Steam’s second-biggest launch of 2023, and we expect it to reach similar results on consoles.

The RPG has made headlines in 2023 despite competition from the likes of Spider-Man 2 and Starfield. This has perhaps been its biggest strength, allowing it to win numerous awards and accolades.

Larian Studio has already moved on from the title and has begun work on its next project. After this release, expectations from the studio are even higher, and we hope the developer continues to deliver stellar RPGs in the future.
