Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev Has Begun Work On Next Title

Next Big Release From Larian!

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the most successful project for Larian Studios. The RPG is currently the highest-rated game of the year, dethroning Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in a shocking turn of events.

Although work on Baldur’s Gate 3 is not finished, Larian Studios appears to have begun work on its next project. The co-founder of Larian Studios has revealed that a separate team at the studio is busy on the next project.

Why it matters: The recent success of Baldur’s Gate 3 has opened the studio up to millions of new players, leading to more eyes than ever on its future projects.

In a recent YouTube video with Dungeons & Dragons, the co-founder of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, talked about the future of the studio after the successful launch of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Swen Vincke has said that the game will continue to be patched, but he has already moved on to the next game. The developer stated:

“I’m going to move onto the next game, the other team is going to be working on patches but for me personally, this creative path is done now.”

He further stated that the release marks the completion of the previous chapter in his journey. While Baldur’s Gate 3 has recently come out on PS5, and an Xbox release is expected in October or November, Swen Vincke has moved on.

However, he did not share much about the next title. The studio may continue to focus on its strengths in the RPG genre, but the recent popularity of Larian Studios could encourage the team to try something entirely new.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has opened up new avenues for the studio, potentially leading to its next project being the most ambitious work from the developer to date.

Baldur's Gate 3

When the co-founder was asked about the next game, he replied that there is no shortage of possibilities out there.

As always, fans should not expect any updates on this project for a few years since game development can take several years in the current era.

While the next game from Larian Studios is expected to be another exciting title, fans can continue to enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 as they wait for the release.

By the end of the year, the latest RPG from Larian Studios will be available across all major platforms, and Xbox is also working with the team to bring split-screen co-op support for the Xbox Series S.
