- Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been a success for Ubisoft.
- As one of the best-selling games of last month, it outsold Spider-Man 2 to secure the second position on the UK’s list of best-selling titles.
- It was also in the top 3 best-selling games of October in the US.
Despite releasing at the same time as popular titles like Spider-Man 2, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been an undeniable success. A few days after launch, the French giant celebrated impressive sales, dubbing this title its biggest current-gen launch.
Continuing its successful streak, Assassin’s Creed Mirage boasts another strong milestone. It outsold Spider-Man 2 in October, becoming one of the UK’s best-selling titles.
Why it matters: This was the first Assassin’s Creed from Ubisoft since 2020. Therefore, this gap has benefited the IP, revitalizing interest through an old formula and a fresh setting.
Gamesindustry reports that EA Sports FC dominated game sales in the UK last month. However, just behind this football game, Ubisoft’s latest release sits in second position.
The most interesting part here is that Spider-Man 2 could not outsell Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While the report notes that the difference between these two was quite narrow, Spider-Man has a far bigger fanbase.
It was also the best-selling game of October in the US and became a Game of the Year nominee. Therefore, this is an impressive result for Ubisoft, even if its release had a head start by two weeks.
Compared to its predecessors, Assassin’s Creed Mirage fell behind Valhalla by around 50% in terms of first four-week sales. However, it managed to outdo Odyssey and Origins by 22% and 6%, respectively.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a much smaller release than its predecessors, boasting the return of familiar gameplay systems.
In our review, we noted that many of these systems can be quite fun, but the game ultimately does not try to do anything that hasn’t been done already. Still, this makes for a fun gameplay experience.
While Assassin’s Creed Mirage outsold Spider-Man 2 at launch, the latter has sold at least 5 million units to date. However, Ubisoft has yet to provide official figures for its latest AAA title.
