Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has announced a new name for Assassin’s Creed Red.
  • The game is officially dubbed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and a cinematic reveal trailer is coming this month.
  • This trailer will debut on May 15, and a 2024 release date has already leaked ahead of this premiere.

Assassin’s Creed Red has been the subject of incredible anticipation from the beginning. The Japanese setting holds a lot of promise for the series, offering the possibility of a bigger open-world, new characters, and more.

While speculation has pointed to a gameplay reveal at Ubisoft Forward, the publisher has decided to share more information earlier than this event. According to a new announcement, a cinematic reveal is coming on May 15.

Why it matters: Ubisoft’s last mainline Assassin’s Creed entry was released in 2020, giving the studio a massive four-year gap to work on its most ambitious title.

In addition to the trailer date, Ubisoft has confirmed a new title for Assassin’s Creed Red.

The game is officially dubbed Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft intends to reveal the entry with a cinematic trailer, confirming the debut for 9 AM PT on May 15. Last year, the team followed a similar pattern for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Therefore, it is safe to assume that a full gameplay reveal will follow at Ubisoft Forward. Afterwards, fans can expect the gaming giant to reveal more detail through developer interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and more.

Assassin's Creed Red Japan Yasuke
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Feature Yasuke

While there has been doubt about a 2024 release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows recently, leaks from Ubisoft’s upcoming trailer have confirmed a November 15 launch.

Moreover, a Season Pass will be included in the game, with Ubisoft selling two expansions worth $25. The Season Pass will offer these expansions for $40. Furthermore, the title seems to be skipping last-generation consoles for a next-generation experience.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows should be a breath of fresh air, which this series desperately needs.

Following the rocky reception of 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft needs to deliver on all its promises. With a Japanese setting, things are already off to a great start, but it remains to be seen if the studio can live up to years of excitement.
