Aztec Era Flourished In Central Mexico From 1300 To 1521

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular Ubisoft game franchises, providing players with top-tier games with unique settings. The most recent Assassin’s Creed game was set during the Viking invasion of England, whereas the one before was set in ancient Greece and the one before Egypt.

The approach used in Assassin’s Creed games has been to choose a certain historical era to place the game in.

Based on all this, the question right now is: What will the setting be in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game?

As Ubisoft has been quiet for some time now about the new iteration of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, we finally have some information on the latest setting of the new Assassin’s Creed game.

In a recent Tweet, reliable insider Jeremy Penter seemingly revealed the Era of the new Assassin’s Creed game, stating that it will be set in the Aztecs Era.

Assassin's Creed Aztec

The Aztec Era flourished in Central Mexico and ruled from 1300 to 1521. This will be fascinating because we have already seen Assassins from the Mayans in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.

Also, the Aztecs seem like intriguing prospects due to their radical thoughts, a wide variety of Gods, and Warriors with a unique armour set. They were known to sacrifice humans to satisfy the gods, so they also had a dark side.

It also has deep roots in Spanish history. In 1519, Emperor Moctezuma II established contact with the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés and his contingent of soldiers.

In the events that ensued throughout the next two years, the Aztec Empire was finally defeated by a force of around 1,500 Spanish soldiers supported by hundreds of thousands of indigenous followers, who laid a decisive siege upon the capital of Tenochtitlan in 1520.

He also bought an undercover Assasin. The Spanish, including Giovanni, were eventually led to the Main Temple, where they witnessed the Aztec clergy sacrificing one of their own as a tribute to the gods. During the ritual, Giovanni noticed a priest holding a Crystal Skull, and he immediately recognized it as the Piece of Eden he had been looking for; he quietly assassinated the priest and took the skull.

Spaniards later massacred the Aztecs as they were disgusted by the human sacrifice of one of their own. Later, the Spaniards fled on the cover of night but were intercepted by the Aztecs. However, some of the Spaniards were able to escape.

Seeing Ubisoft’s take on the latest game will also be interesting. The last three Assassin’s Creed games, Origins, Valhalla, and Odyssey, have been action role-playing games.

This year is the 15th anniversary of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and Ubisoft has announced they will reveal the new Assassin’s Creed in September in a live stream. Stay tuned, as we will keep you updated regarding any new developments.
